Overview
Texting victims from a burner phone, cloned cards, money orders, forged checks and store returns. What's in Fraud Scamming and what it needs.
On this page
Fraud Scamming (tr_fraud) adds five ways to make money from fraud, each one done by hand on a burner phone and tr_laptop's laptop:
- Texting victims: text someone from a burner phone, posing as their bank, a parcel firm or the tax office, until they send their card details. An AI writes back as the victim, or the player picks from written replies.
- Cloned cards: send the card to a laptop, load it onto a blank card in Skimmr and swipe it through the card skimmer by hand. It pays once at an ATM, if the ATM doesn't keep it.
- Money orders: spend a cloned card a little at a time on a store's card terminal, fill the money order in by hand and cash it at a bank teller.
- Check fraud: take checks from mailboxes, paint the payee out in Fotoshop, write a new name in matching handwriting and print it.
- Store returns: buy electronics on a cloned card, forge the receipt to say cash, and return the box at another store.
Every step can go wrong, and the police hear about it when it does. The server decides every outcome, and every card, check, money order and sale is a row in the database, so a copied or spawned item pays nothing.
Requirements
| What | Version |
|---|---|
| tr_core | 1.5.0 or newer |
| tr_laptop | 1.1.0 or newer (free) |
| oxmysql | Any recent version |
| Framework | ESX, QBCore or Qbox |
| Inventory | ox_inventory or qb-inventory |
| Target | ox_target or qb-target |
| Dispatch | Optional, see Police alerts |
| AI key | Optional, see An AI key |
tr_core finds your framework, inventory, target and dispatch script by itself. With a tr_core or tr_laptop older than these, the server console says so when tr_fraud starts.
Items
The laptop is tr_laptop's item (tr_laptop). tr_fraud adds these:
| Item | What it's for |
|---|---|
burner_phone | Held in the hand: texting victims for their cards. Sell it wherever suits your server |
card_skimmer | Sits next to the laptop on its USB cable. Skimmr needs it, and loaded blank cards are swiped through it |
blank_card | What card details are loaded onto. Sell it wherever suits your server |
cloned_card | A swiped card: a victim's details, cashed once at an ATM. Only comes from the skimmer |
check_printer | Sits next to the laptop on its USB cable. Fotoshop needs it; it scans checks and receipts in and prints forged ones |
blank_check | What a forged check is printed on. Sell it wherever suits your server |
stolen_check | Found going through mailboxes. Only comes from a mailbox |
forged_check | What comes out of the printer, cashed once at a bank teller |
money_order | Bought on a cloned card at a store, filled in, and cashed at a bank teller by the person it's made out to |
boxed_electronics | Bought on a cloned card at a store, returned at another for cash |
store_receipt | Comes with the box. It says it was paid by card |
receipt_paper | What a forged receipt is printed on. Sell it wherever suits your server |
forged_receipt | What comes out of the printer: the receipt, saying it was paid in cash |
Every item has a picture in install/images. The names can be changed in config.lua (items, devices, burner).
